Prof. Cees van der Vleuten

Professor of Education who has been at the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands since 1982. He is one of the world renowned figures in assessment in health professions education for almost 40 years. Prof. van der Vleuten was the former director of School of HPE at Maastricht University (The Netherlands) and has a valuable contribution in shaping assessment practices worldwide and his scholarly work has been acknowledged by many institutions, including the prestigious Karolinska Prize for Research in Medical Education in 2012. Cees contributed to three cohorts of the Assessment Course of UniLearn MedEd before he retired in January 2023.

Prof. Kevin Eva 

Associate Director and Senior Scientist in the Centre for Health Education Scholarship, and Professor and Director of Educational Research and Scholarship in the Department of Medicine, at the University of British Columbia (Canada). Dr. Eva has completed his PhD in Cognitive Psychology (McMaster University) in 2001 and became Editor-in-Chief for the journal Medical Education in 2008. Dr. Eva maintains a number of international appointments including visiting professor at the University of Bern (Switzerland), Honorary Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne (Australia), and Honorary Skou Professor of Health Sciences Education at Aarhus University (Denmark).

Prof. Mairi Scott

 Professor of General Practice and Medical Education at the School of Medicine, University of Dundee (UK). She is the Director of the Centre for Medical Education and also offers consultancy support and post-graduate development programmes on all aspects of educational governance, management and leadership. Prof. Scott is the head of Tayside Centre for General Practice, an Honorary Consultant and a General Practitioner with NHS Tayside. She is a member of the University Senatus Academicus and an elected member of the University Court.

Dr. Subha Ramani  

Current President of AMEE and Associate Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School (USA), Honorary Professor of MedEd at the University of Manchester (UK) and Visiting Professor of MedEd at the University of Indonesia. Dr. Ramani has completed MMEd at the University of Dundee (UK) and PhD in HPE at Maastricht University (The Netherlands). She has been a member of the AMEE since 2003 and currently a member of the AMEE Executive Committee and Chair of the AMEE Fellowship Committee. Dr. Ramani’s scholarly interests focus on innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment of clinical trainees, faculty development in teaching, feedback, application of educational and qualitative research methods in MedEd.

Prof. Jeroen van Merrienboer 

A full professor of Learning and Instruction and the Research Director of the School of Health Professions Education (SHE) at Maastricht University (The Netherlands). He specialises in instructional design for the health professions and most of his research is related to cognitive load theory or four-component instructional design (4C/ID). Jeroen published more than 350 journal articles and book chapters and he received numerous international awards and prizes for his research.

Dr. Mohamed M. Al-Eraky

An international consultant in medical education with MMEd from Dundee University (UK) and PhD from Maastricht University (The Netherlands). Dr. Al-Eraky has contributed to different international Master and PhD programs in HPE and has conducted many F2F and online workshops and plenary talks in international conferences in Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Pakistan, China and Malaysia. Dr. Al-Eraky is currently the Chairman of HPE Dept. at the Gulf Medical University (UAE) and a guest staff at the School of HPE, Maastricht University (Netherlands).

Dr. Janneke Frambach

Dr. Frambach is an Assistant Professor at the School of Health Professions Education (SHE), Maastricht University, The Netherlands. She has a background in interdisciplinary social sciences and humanities plus a PhD in educational sciences. Her research investigates globalization in HPE, with a focus on student-centered education and problem-based learning. Stalmeijer is an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Development and Research at the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (FHML), Maastricht University. Dr. Meredith Young

Dr. Young is an Associate Professor in the Institute of Health Sciences Education at McGill University (Canada). She earned her PhD in cognitive psychology from McMaster University (Canada) studying how individuals (with and without medical expertise) think through a variety of complex problems in medicine. Her current work examines how problems get solved in HPE, and the assumptions that underpin what we think makes a good solution. Prof. Judy McKimm

Professor and Dean of Medical Education, College of Medicine, Swansea University (UK). Prof. McKimm was Director of Undergraduate Medicine at Imperial College London and led the implementation of the new undergraduate medical programme there. As a Higher Education Academy Senior Adviser, she had responsibility for developing and implementing the accreditation of professional development programmes and the development of professional standards for teachers in HE.
